According to the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching:
The purpose of community engagement is the partnership of college and university knowledge and resources with those of the public and private sectors to enrich scholarship, research, and creative activity; enhance curriculum, teaching and learning; prepare educated, engaged citizens; strengthen democratic values and civic responsibility; address critical societal issues; and contribute to the public good.
Event attendees will be able to:
- Visit the Poster Gallery to learn about 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ faculty, staff, and student community engagement activities.
- Hear from 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ students, staff, and faculty about their community engagement work.
- Participate in "lunch table discussions" about barriers to and impacts of community engagement work at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ.
- Hear first-hand from a community partner about their perceptions of 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's community engagement work and its impact on the Southern Nevada community.
- Gain knowledge about campus resources available to students, staff, and faculty to help support their community engagement activities.
This event is free to attend and lunch will be provided, but is required and space is limited.
