June 2024 Rebel Accessibility Award

For June 2024, the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ offices of Educational Compliance and Accessibility Resources recognize Ezra Needham from the School of Nursing.

Needham has been significantly connected to what is now the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Office of Accessibility Resources since before its inception. Working with the Accessibility Resources Team, they first provided guidance and feedback on the machine language learning features of what is now Anthology Ally.

Needham's commitment to accessibility extends beyond their role as the educational technology and innovation manager. They actively collaborate with the Office of Accessibility Resources and the Disability Resource Center (DRC) to enhance the digital learning experience for all students. Needham works closely with faculty members to create instructional materials that adhere to accessibility standards.

Whether it’s designing course slides, videos, or documents, they ensure that content is perceivable, operable, and understandable by all students. When developing multimedia resources, they prioritize accessibility. By providing closed captions for videos and structuring content logically, Needham ensures that students with diverse abilities can engage fully with the learning material. Through these efforts, Needham fosters an environment where everyone recognizes the value of accessibility and actively contributes to its implementation. Their dedication has fostered an accessibility mindset within Nursing, emphasizing the importance of inclusive digital experiences.

Needham's contributions have been truly transformative, enabling nursing schools to offer admission to students with hearing impairments through the use of cutting-edge technology. Their dedication to inclusivity and accessibility ensures that all aspiring nurses have the opportunity to pursue their dreams and make a significant impact in the healthcare field.

Needham's dedication exemplifies our university’s mission to create an equitable and supportive learning environment. Thank you for your unwavering commitment and support in creating a more inclusive educational environment.

For these and more, please join us in honoring Ezra Needham as our June 2024 Rebel Accessibility Hero.
