Retirement Announcement: Lydia Lujan Sasaki

After an impressive 26-year career at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ, Business Affairs’ Lydia Lujan Sasaki (formerly Delrio) will retire on Dec. 20.

For many years, Sasaki was the friendly and knowledgeable voice on the main 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ phone line that greeted callers, answered questions, and directed them to the appropriate resources. Her warm and professional demeanor made a positive impression on callers and enhanced the university's reputation for excellent customer service.

In addition to her telecommunications help desk manager role, Sasaki also held positions as chief operator and admin services business manager. During her tenure, she oversaw the implementation of three different call accounting systems and four major ticketing system upgrades. Her technical acumen and problem-solving skills were instrumental in ensuring smooth operations and efficient communication across the university.

She played a pivotal role in implementing the university’s wireless service preferred provider contract. She worked closely with the vendor to successfully transition the university to two new wireless carriers with minimal user disruption. Sasaki also developed a streamlined system for ordering devices and changing wireless plans.

In addition to her full-time role at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ, she worked as a temporary employee for the Thomas & Mack Center, supporting many campus events as an usher and supervisor.

Sasaki's dedication to 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ is so strong that she passed on the Rebel Spirit to all seven of her children, and they would proudly proclaim that they are "Scarlet and Gray All the Way."

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Lydia Sasaki for her many contributions to 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ and wish her a happy and fulfilling retirement. Please join us in thanking her for her years of service.
