The 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Rebel Nurse Mentoring Program (RNMP) connects current nursing students with alumni by matching them with a professional in their area of interest who can offer advice and information about career options or other issues relevant to nursing.
The program is open to all alumni and current Level 4 students of the School of Nursing, as well as 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Alumni working in nursing-related fields.
The application period opens during the Spring and Fall semesters, with student/alumni matching taking place soon thereafter.
Alumni
You will make a tremendous impact on a student’s life by becoming a mentor. You will serve as a guide, answering questions, giving advice, and helping them learn more about themselves and their area of interest in nursing.
Requirements
If you are an alumna/alumnus of the School of Nursing working in a nursing related field, then you are eligible to mentor a student. Once we receive your application, we will match you with a student whose interest closely aligns with your professional experience.
The only requirement to participate is that you attend the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ RNMP Alumni Mentor Orientation/Mixer. This will give you the opportunity to meet your student in person, learn more about the mentoring program, and work with your mentee to develop goals and action steps for participation in the program.
Expectations
Regular communication will help you and your mentee get the most out of the program. Mentors and mentees can communicate with one another via email, phone, and visits to your workplace if you choose. This is not a job placement program and you are not expected to offer employment to the student you are mentoring.
You are asked to communicate regularly with the student as the two of you see fit. The student may have questions about areas of study, career options, or your career area of expertise.
