Fellowship Overview

Students will develop their leadership, scholarly ability, and professional skills by participating in a new or existing research project under the supervision of a faculty or staff mentor. The project may involve attending skills seminars/workshops, presentations, research, interpersonal skill development, soft and hard skill development, as well as reflection activities and journals.

Fellowship Award Amount

The award amount will vary based on the scope of the project, with a minimum of 40 hours ($800 stipend) and a maximum of 200 hours ($4,000 stipend) per project.

Eligibility

  • Be a currently enrolled TheDream.US Scholar at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ and remain at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ for the duration of the fellowship
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher and admitted to a pre- or full major
  • Have a valid SSN or ITIN at time of fellowship application

Application Process

Students are required to submit the following as part of their application package:

  1. One-page personal statement detailing their interest in (and expectations from) the program, general research interests, and career aspirations and goals. For instructions, please peruse OUR’s one-page personal statement sample.
  2. Curriculum Vitae (CV). For instructions, please view the following samples:

Program Requirements

Participants are expected to meet the requirements listed below:

  1. Schedule a research advising meeting with OUR’s research advisor
  2. Participate in their approved research, training, and/or experiential learning project (up to 15 hours/week during fall or spring; up to 40 hours/week during summer)
  3. Participate in monthly leadership and professional development opportunities, including a minimum of two (2) required OUR seminars
  4. Submit a final reflection on their research, training, and/or experiential learning project to the Office of Undergraduate Research and TheDream.US scholar advisors on completion of their project
  5. Present at OUR’s triannual research symposia
