Biography

Amy Brown is the Coordinator of Music Education, and Assistant Professor of Music Education, Pedagogy, and Practice at 51ԹϺ. She teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses, as well as supervises student teachers. While at 51ԹϺ, she has worked collaboratively with the Clark County School District (CCSD) to continue the 51ԹϺ Choral Festival for elementary students and the Nevada Music Educators Association (NMEA) to assist with the annual Nevada conference. She holds an active Nevada teaching license and continues to serve on committees in CCSD for the Las Vegas Philharmonic Youth Concert Series. She also teaches an asynchronous classroom management class (during the off seasons) to assist elementary specialists in creating a positive classroom environment. In addition, she has taken on the role of advisor for the Collegiate Chapter of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME).

Brown is the course director for the American Orff Schulwerk Association (AOSA) Summer Levels Courses at 51ԹϺ. Participants come from throughout the country to work with master teachers specially trained in the Orff Schulwerk approach. “This child-centered approach combines speech, movement, and song in a creative, playful atmosphere, where students experience the elements of music actively.” (unlvorff.com)

Brown is an active member of multiple organizations, including the National Association of Music Education (NAfME), the American Orff Schulwerk Association (AOSA), the Nevada Desert Valley Chapter (NDVC) of AOSA, the Organization of American Kodaly Educators (OAKE), the Las Vegas Urban Chapter of Kodaly Educators (LUCKE), and the Nevada Society of Innovators and Digital Educators (NVSIDE), where she was named Outstanding Teacher of the Year in 2024. She has presented music education and technology integration topics at local, state, and national conferences for the American Orff Schulwerk Association and Computer Using Educators conferences.
