Biography

Dave Nourse is an assistant professor in the Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies. He holds a bachelor of science degree in criminology and an master of education degree in counseling from North Carolina State University. He received his doctorate in Educational Technology from 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ where he focused on how technology can be utilized to help at-risk students graduate from high school.

Nourse teaches courses in audio gathering and production, audio storytelling and podcasting, and media innovation. He also serves as an advisor for 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's student radio station, 91.5 The Rebel HD-2, where he works with students keen on developing live sports announcing and broadcast skills.

Nourse is a National Board Certified Counselor (NCC) and a State licensed school counselor. His research interests include the impact of community-based and Lower Power FM radio stations on their city of license, visual and data journalism, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). In his downtime, Nourse is an avid radio and podcast listener, runner, singer, grill master and lacrosse enthusiast.
