Biography

Erica Marti is an Associate Professor specializing in environmental engineering. She earned Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering and conducted postdoctoral research at the Southern Nevada Water Authority. Much of her work has focused on emerging contaminants and disinfection byproducts, especially pertaining to water reuse. Current projects include understanding sources of precursors for haloacetonitriles, treatment of contaminated water using carbon-based adsorbents prepared from waste agricultural materials, surfactants as disinfection byproduct precursors, and emerging contaminants in urban water systems. She also works with K-12 educators on multiple programs focused on STEM education, engineering design, and increasing the STEM workforce.
