Biography
Visiting assistant professor Dr. Jay Morgenstern joined 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ School of Dental Medicine as a part-time volunteer in July 2018 and joined the faculty full-time in November of that year. He is the course director for applied fixed prosthodontics (crowns), and practice administration. Dr. Morgenstern supervises clinical procedures performed by students, and treats patients in the school’s Faculty Dental Practice one day each week. Prior to 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ, Dr. Morgenstern taught for ten years at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Morgenstern earned his bachelor’s in biology at Stony Brook University, New York, and his dental degree from Tufts University in Boston. While at Stony Brook, he received the Outstanding Leadership and Volunteer awards for his four-years dedicated to the university’s Volunteer Ambulance Service as an EMT, and for reaching the rank of first assistant chief, executive vice president.
During the past four years, Dr. Morgenstern has been involved with Remote Area Medical (RAM) community charitable dental clinics, and has taken students to the event in Pahrump, NV, event three times. During his career, Dr. Morgenstern has treated patients at RAM events in Tennessee and Nevada, and provided dental care at the Saint Francis Mission on the Lakota reservation in South Dakota.
Dr. Morgenstern has been a lifelong member of the American Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society, and the Metropolitan District Dental Society in Boston. While practicing dentistry for 32 years, He was also an active member of the International Association of Orthodontics during his 32 years.
