Biography

Jill Schwartz joined the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ School of Nursing in 2024 and serves as an Assistant Professor in Residence. She is nationally certified as a pediatric nurse practitioner and is internationally board certified as a lactation consultant. Her pediatric nursing career began at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and her skills as a pediatric nurse practitioner were honed in primary care in the private sector in a practice in the suburbs
of Philadelphia.

With over 25 years of dedicated service in pediatric healthcare, Dr Schwartz brings a wealth of clinical experience and expertise to the realm of pediatric nursing education. A cornerstone of her expertise lies in pediatric and infant nutrition, with a particular emphasis on human lactation, dedicating significant time and effort to advancing her knowledge in this field, recognizing the critical role nutrition plays in the health and development of children. Experience as an IBCLC has provided invaluable insights into the complexities of breastfeeding and lactation support, empowering families to provide optimal nutrition for their infants.

At 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ, Dr Schwartz teaches Nurs140, Nurs350 in the prelicensure program and Nurs720 and Nurs750R in the graduate programs.

Education Background

Dr. Schwartz earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Delaware, Master of Science in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania, and Doctor of Nursing Practice from Drexel University.
