Biography

Matthew joined the Department of Anthropology in 2023 with eight years of experience working on 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's campus. After a successful battle with cancer, Matthew returned to 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ in 2015 to restart the education his health had forced him to put on hold in 2001. He joined 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ’s Student Affairs Maintenance Department, working as a student administrative assistant while obtaining his bachelor’s degree in English: creative writing. After graduating he worked for 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Graduate College’s admission department as administrative faculty for three years before changing careers and joining the Anthropology Department as an administrative assistant III in February 2023.

When not at work, Matthew enjoys running role playing games, like Dungeons & Dragons, for his friends and his husband of 14 years, Jose. He is an avid bibliophile, reader, and cookbook collector. He continues to write speculative fiction, and hopes to one day be brave enough to submit his novel to a publisher. Matthew has cowrote for two published role-playing systems; the Morra Cinematic Gaming System and The Midnight World, and a soon to be published chapter in Learning, Education, and Games (Volume 4): Using Games to Support Inclusion, Equity & Justice. Matthew hopes to one day find the time to get his master’s degree or even better, a post-tea nap.
