Nicole Hudson, Ed.D.
Executive Director of Workforce Education
Biography
Nicole Hudson is the Executive Director of Workforce Education for University of Nevada - Las Vegas. She began her current role in September 2022. She is responsible for engaging employers, deepening community connections, and assessing and advising on degree and certificate programs related to high-growth job sectors. She supports students, staff and employers. Nicole’s CliftonStrengths are: futuristic, relator, ideation, connector and strategic. These strengths are utilized to explore, innovate and co-create programs, processes, and practices for student success and employability.
Prior to this role, Nicole served as Associate Director of Campus Relations for the Office of Online Education (May 2019 - September 2022). In that role, she was responsible for online instructor faculty development and managed a team of Embedded Instructional Technologists that supported all university faculty through the pandemic training over 900 on online teaching best practices. During this role, Nicole and colleagues created 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Online Teaching Competencies.
At 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ, Nicole serves on the Administrative Faculty Committee, Faculty Senate, Minority Serving Institution (MSI) Programming Committee and Student Success Committee, the Open Education Resource (OER) Task Force, and led a cross-campus Online Learning Community of Practice. She has served as a Search Advocate, Rebel Rebound mentor and on numerous search committees including the Chief Diversity Officer and Athletic Director. She has worked on projects related to student success of online, adult learners and first-generation students in which she is a product of. Nicole has a sweet spot for our veterans.
Nicole has spent over 25 years in higher education in enrollment, business development and campus leadership. She has taught since 1999 in online environments with institutions across the US in the areas of business, management and human resources and currently teaches at the undergraduate and doctoral level.
Outside of 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ, Nicole is active in professional associations to include Online Learning Consortium (OLC) and Educatuse. She is a current faculty member of New Manager Institute for Educause and an alum of OLC’s Institute for Emerging Leaders in Online Learning (IELOL - 2020)
In the community, Nicole is a current member of Leadership Las Vegas. Her industry experience has been in Talent Development and HR. She holds a certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SHRM-SCP) and has served on the local board of the Society of Human Resources and has co-chaired volunteer relations for several national conferences. She has served on Workforce Connections, Workforce Development Board programming committee and is a current appointee on NVs Displaced Homemaker’s Board.
On a personal note, Nicole has a married daughter, who currently works for 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ and a son, a scholar-athlete, attending a junior college in Northern California, in pursuit of his football dreams.
