Portrait of Paul Miller

Paul Miller, Ph.D. ’10

Biography

Paul's family moved to Las Vegas when he was five, and he very much considers Las Vegas home. Growing up, Paul aspired to be a professional 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ basketball player and loved going to elementary school if only because George Dare's "Runnin' Rebel Fever" was played at least twice a day during 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's run to the basketball championship. Paul attended two universities out of state before finally coming to his senses and attending 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ, where he received a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering under the direction of Tom Piechota. Paul worked for the Bureau of Reclamation and taught Introductory Hydrology courses at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ before accepting a promotion with the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, Utah. While he likes his job, he's waiting for 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ basketball to give him a call and let him coach and/or play for the team. He and his wife, fellow alum Jessica Miller, help coordinate the Salt Lake City 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ regional network when they're not chasing around their two year old son, Isaac, Rebel class of 2037-ish.
