Biography

An assistant professor in the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Department of Surgery and a burn trauma surgeon at the UMC Lions Burn Center, Rabia Nizamani, MD, MS, received her master’s degree in physiology at Georgetown University and earned her medical degree from New York Medical College. After completing a general surgery residency at Virginia Mason Medical Center, Dr. Nizamani finished a burn surgery fellowship at Johns Hopkins Bayview and a surgical critical care fellowship at the University of Virginia.

Along with being board-certified in general surgery and surgical critical care, Dr. Nizamani is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons as well as an active member of the American Burn Association, the Association for Academic Surgery, and the Society for Critical Care Medicine. She also has over 20 peer-reviewed publications and is active in the education of medical students, residents, and other clinicians.

Dr. Nizamani has a special interest in the care of medically vulnerable patients with burn injuries, particularly in the resuscitation phase of treatment.
