Biography
Along with being an associate professor in the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, Sara Hunt, PhD, is the executive director of BeHERE Nevada and the director of the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Mental and Behavioral Health Training Coalition.
She received her bachelor of arts in psychology from the University of Iowa, followed by a master’s degree in psychology from Utah State University and a doctorate degree in psychology from Utah State University in 2009. She completed her internship at Bloorview Children's Rehabilitation Centre in Toronto, Canada, in 2009. Her post-doctoral residency was completed at PeaceHealth Medical Center in Springfield, Oregon, in 2010.
Dr. Hunt has served as president for the Nevada Psychological Association (NPA). She is also an active member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Association of Psychologists in Academic Health Centers (APAHC).
With her work focused on addressing the mental and behavioral health workforce shortage in Nevada, Dr. Hunt and her team have established – a behavioral health workforce development initiative to recruit, educate, and retain individuals in mental and behavioral health careers. She has also been engaging community stakeholders and policymakers on workforce development models and has been a frequent presenter on the subject.
