The University subscribes to , an easy-to-use keyword-searchable database for finding current funding opportunities specifically tailored to research needs for faculty, staff, and students; potential collaborators; and conference calls for papers. Pivot provides information about funding sources for researchers in virtually all fields – including non-sciences. Pivot is available for all 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ faculty, staff, researchers, research administrators and students.

Pivot Best Practices

  1. : 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ faculty profiles have been pre-populated by Pivot. You do not have to claim an existing or create a new Pivot profile in order to use Pivot. However, there are benefits by doing so. Such as, automated funding opportunity alerts based on expertise and positions you to connect with potential collaborators.
  2. : Designate another user to edit your Pivot profile on your behalf.
  3. : Save time and effort as Pivot receives automated profile data updates from . Edit your profile in Pivot and add ORCiD number.
  4. Find Funding Opportunities: Database is updated daily and contains over 400,000 opportunities.
    • : Find a funding opportunity and mark it as tracked. The tracked list is typically used for opportunities for which you plan to apply. Possible use of a tracked list is for funding opportunities that are anticipated but not yet released.
    • Internal Opps: Internal 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ opportunities (i.e. NSHE Regents’ Awards, Barrick Scholar Awards, etc.) are added in Pivot. This list is located in the Internal section of your homepage.
    • Curated Opps: Saved searches for opportunities with deadlines in the next six months in broad categories, applicant type, and funding agencies have been created to save you time. These lists are located in the Curated section of your homepage and accessed below.
    • : Saving a search query saves you time as Pivot automatically provides weekly funding alerts that identify any newly added or updated opportunities that match your query.
  5. Find Calls for Papers: is now part of Pivot. Issued by professional bodies, journal editors and other conference organizers in academic disciplines. The database serves as an alerting service for researchers, scholars, and students seeking opportunities to present and publish their research. Use the Papers Invited tab in Pivot to search this comprehensive collection.
  6. Find Collaborators: The system profiles 500,000 researchers worldwide to help you identify potential collaborators. Potential Collaborators are listed to the right of the funding opportunity (inside and outside organization). The funding opportunity can be shared with those potential collaborators you choose. The Profiles tab in Pivot can be used to find researcher profiles within 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ.
  7. : Export a tracked or active funding opportunity deadline to an external calendar application. View any search results as Calendar View and export to an external calendar application (Google, Outlook, iCal).
  8. Email Notifications: When you save a search you can choose to receive a weekly email with new or updated results about your saved search.
