According to , the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires that 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ have and maintain an asbestos management plan. As part of the plan, 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ is required to disclose the locations of asbestos on campus, as well as asbestos-containing materials (ACMs).
Renovations and Requesting a Service
If you are participating in a renovation project, Risk Management & Safety (RMS) can provide support by reviewing available data, including previous environmental survey reports, to determine whether or not asbestos-containing material is located within the projected limit of a renovation area. A visual inspection of each proposed work area may be necessary to ensure sufficient bulk sampling has been conducted. In lieu of sufficient analytical data, RMS can collect bulk samples (with authorization) of suspect materials and have them analyzed for asbestos content at the respective department's expense.
