51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏolunteers
About
51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏolunteers provides meaningful service opportunities for our 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ community in 5 different impact areas:
Volunteers who focus their service on the environment aim to promote sustainable systems in our local community. This includes serving in community gardens, wilderness restoration, and urban sustainability. Volunteers are empowered to learn about environmental justice issues affecting marginalized communities including regulatory policy and climate change.
Volunteers focused on health and wellness serve to increase community access to healthcare resources. This includes service with organizations that focus on senior citizens, mental health, and nutrition. Students are empowered to learn about social justice issues affecting health and wellness including equitable access to healthcare resources for marginalized communities.
Service programs focused on housing and food insecurity strive to meet immediate community needs and address systemic issues of poverty. This includes service with food pantries and shelters. Students are empowered to learn about social justice issues affecting poverty alleviation including policy.
Youth service programs aim to improve the well-being of children and young people. This includes service with schools and organizations that focus on youth wellness. Students are empowered to learn about social justice issues affecting youth including taking action to increase access and reduce barriers to quality education.
Our general impact programs aim to promote all other forms of service that are not captured by our four other impact areas. This can be a very broad range of service, from serving lunch to our houseless community with our community partners, to providing company to our elderly community for a couple of hours at many of the nursing homes found throughout the Vegas Valley
