2024 Recipients
Chrissie Choa, M.S.R.S., R.T.(R)(ARRT)
School of Integrated Health Sciences
Chrissie is a radiologic technologist and a 51ԹϺ Alumni. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Comprehensive Medical Imaging and holds a Master of Science degree in Radiologic Sciences. Chrissie’s goal for teaching is to prepare students to work in a healthcare setting. When she teaches her courses, she explains the reasoning behind each radiographic position or patient care skill. She even incorporates real-life examples that are relevant to the lesson. Most of her examples are based on her clinical experiences as a radiography student and as a radiologic technologist. Even though some of those clinical experiences were not good and even embarrassing, she still shares them so that hopefully her students can learn from them. Chrissie also provides an inclusive and equitable classroom environment by taking the time to get to know all her students. By doing so, it builds trust and respect, and it creates a safe and positive learning environment for students to succeed.

This approach is supported by a classroom atmosphere that promotes open dialogue on diversity, equity, and inclusion, leading to improved student outcomes and high evaluations. Looking forward, Catillo is dedicated to further integrating experiential learning opportunities into the curriculum, disseminating effective teaching practices, and advocating for inclusive excellence in higher education, all aimed at preparing students for the multifaceted challenges they will face in their professional careers.
