About the Richard Tam Alumni Center

The 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Richard Tam Alumni Center, located on the corner of Harmon Avenue/Maude Frazier Way and Maryland Parkway, is just minutes from McCarran International Airport and the Las Vegas Strip. The building opened its doors in 1990 and has hosted many functions for both on- and off-campus groups, including visits by presidential candidates, corporate meetings and events, and family events such as weddings and reunions.

Our space is perfect for a small intimate business lunch, a community lecture or civic event, or a wedding or other types of receptions. No matter the event, we guarantee we will provide you with the highest-quality service possible to ensure the success of your event.

The Richard Tam Alumni Center consists of four different event spaces to accommodate your meeting and event needs.

Marietta Tiberti Grand Hall

The 3,600-square-foot ballroom features a two-story cathedral ceiling, large picture windows with views of the campus, and access to the lobby and patio.

William Trent Lounge

The 1,800-square-foot lounge features a built-in bar, mahogany ceilings, built-in 60-inch television, a large sectional couch, and lounge tables with chairs.

Fred C. Albrecht Boardroom

The 850-square-foot boardroom can accommodate up to 28 people and features a built-in white board, 60-inch flat-screen TV, wet bar, and conference call capability.

Jessie & Bryan Metcalf Art Gallery

The 3,000-square-foot circular art gallery overlooks the Heliotrope, a contemporary sculpture created by internationally famous artist Patrick Zentz.

The Richard Tam Alumni Center has the following tables and chairs available for use in our rooms that offer flexible setup options:

  • 240 standard ballroom chairs
  • 18 - 5' round banquet tables (seats up to 8 people)
  • 10 - 6' round banquet tables (seats up to 10 people)
  • 12 - 6' rectangular banquet tables

Please note:

  • The above quantities are subject to change without notice.
  • For some setups, additional chairs and tables may be required at a minimal charge.
  • Other setups can be accommodated upon request.

Event Coordination

We work with you to ensure logistical support, such as room layouts, specialized equipment, audiovisual needs, and other special requests.

Equipment Rental

Your rental fee includes the use of banquet tables (rounds of 8 or 10 and rectangles of 6 feet), and banquet chairs.

Catering

51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Catering, the university’s contracted partner, offers a variety of menu options for any size budget. For more information, visit the or contact Aramark at 702-895-2650.

Event Security

Your safety is important to us. We strive to make you and your guests feel comfortable, safe, and secure. Event security is required for after-hours events for an additional fee.

Event Parking

The Richard Tam Alumni Center has a parking lot adjacent to it that can be reserved for private events at a minimal cost. Other parking options are also available. If parking is requested, all parking options and charges will be disclosed at the time of booking.

Rental rates are effective Oct. 2, 2017 for all new facility rentals.

Rental time includes time needed for setup and breakdown of your event. Tables and chairs are included in your booking. Linen is not provided. Additional fees may apply.

Additional Fees

Set Up and Tear Down

Tables and chairs are provided, but set up of the space to meet your specifications requires an additional fee (ranges from $150-$250). Inquire when booking.

  • Screen and projector - $75
  • Podium with microphone - $25
  • Wireless microphone - $25/each up to 4 mics. Both wireless and lapel mics are available.
Security

Any event held outside of business hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday will require security of $21 per hour with a two-hour minimum.

Can I use the same reservation form for recurring events?

Yes. The same reservation form can be used for various events as long as they are standing meetings or recurring events. Individual, non-recurring events will require a reservation form for each.

If we are a registered 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ student organization, do we have to pay a rental fee?

Yes. Currently, the Richard Tam Alumni Center does not offer free rental space to any organizations. However, registered student organizations do receive a substantial discount on all rental fees. If you are looking for free space, please contact the Student Union & Event Services office at 702-895-4449.

Do we need insurance for our event?

All clients who are inviting off-campus guests to their events must provide proof of insurance to hold any event anywhere on 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ property.

How do I show proof of my nonprofit status?

Nonprofit organizations must show proof of their 501(c)(3) status through federal tax documents or information on official company letterhead.

Do we have to use 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Catering for our food and beverage needs?

The Richard Tam Alumni Center strongly recommends using 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Catering for your event’s food and beverage needs. 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Catering is familiar with our campus and facility and can ensure success. If 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Catering is not used, proper insurance from the caterer must be on file prior to the event.

Can we have alcohol at our event?

The Richard Tam Alumni Center does have its own alcohol permit. This permit may be used by clients only if approved in advance. If approval is granted, a licensed bartender must serve, and his or her certifications must be on file prior to the event.

If I need additional equipment (tables, chairs, audiovisual, etc.), can I bring in my own?

If the Richard Tam Alumni Center does not have the equipment needed for your event, you may bring your own. However, if you do bring your own equipment, we cannot offer setup or technical assistance.

What equipment is included with the space?

Each room in the Richard Tam Alumni Center has equipment associated with it. When booking the space, all included equipment will be disclosed.

Is the Richard Tam Alumni Center associated with any other rental facilities on campus?
Yes, the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Foundation building is managed by our facilities team. If we cannot accommodate your event in either of these buildings, we may be able to recommend other university facilities that may meet your needs.
