COLA 100E: First-Year Seminar
Based on the five University Undergraduate Learning Outcomes and research on student development, COLA 100E is designed to assist you as a first-year student during your academic and personal transition into university life. COLA 100E’s primary goal is to provide you a foundation for success throughout your college career!
Why Take COLA 100E?
As a COLA 100E student, you will:
- Develop personalized academic success strategies and be introduced to exciting campus resources.
- Increase your appreciation of lifelong learning through an understanding of the knowledge and skills you will need to succeed as an undergraduate, emphasizing critical thinking, effective communication skills, and information literacy.
- Learn strategies for discovering an academic discipline/career compatible with your unique interests, abilities, personality, and values.
- Gain an awareness of your role within your respective community, while exploring topics like leadership, service, student involvement, cultural competency, and ethical decision making.
- Receive access to a small class size, an active classroom environment, supportive faculty, ASC resources, and for most students, an in-class peer mentor support! Designed for all Academic Success Center student populations, COLA 100E is offered by the College of Liberal Arts (COLA) and is the only 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ first-year seminar that helps student explore (E) both majors and careers. COLA 100E is part of the required 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ General Education Curriculum.
