We may be young, but we are mighty, and we have established many traditions in our short history. Whether kicking off the school year with Premier 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ or fighting for the right to paint the Fremont Cannon, our Rebel pride shines through.
Our Traditions
Long before Premier 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ became a campus staple, a number of social events marked the beginning of the fall semester. From the Rebel Roast, a pre-class picnic and BBQ on the beaches of Lake Mead to the Howdy Dance, where new and old students got to mingle on the dance floor, Rebels knew how to kick off the school year with fun and flair.
We’ve got spirit! How about you? Wear your scarlet and gray, show off your 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ license plate, and show your Rebel Pride as you drive around town.
Win with the Rebels
A victory today
Win with the Rebels
The Scarlet and Gray
From mountains that surround you
To far across the sea,
We'll win with the Rebels of 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ!
U-N-L-V
U-N-L-V
Go, Fight, Win
We'll win with the Rebels of 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ!
Alma Mater
Lyrics
Alma Mater, we praise you
For spirit, the eternal flame
Strength which never falters
A tribute to your name
Alma Mater, we thank you
Exalted Scarlet and Gray
Truth and wisdom from your standard,
In our minds and hearts will stay.
Alma Mater, we cherish you.
And in our days that are yet to be,
Our voices let us ever raise
In honor, U-N-L-V
About
The lyrics for 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's alma mater were written by 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Music Professor Thomas Leslie and graduate student Robyn Lemon. The music was composed by 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ alumnus Eric Whitacre in April 1998. It was formally presented and publicly performed for the first time by the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Runnin' Rebels' Pep Band and 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Concert Choir at a 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ vs. Wyoming basketball game in 1999.
