51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award
The Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award recognizes graduate students who have demonstrated strong pedagogical skills and successfully taught at least two complete classes as the instructor of record in the last 3 years at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ. The award is only for students who teach at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ.The 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award nominations are due to the Graduate College by December 1st, 2024. Students are required to submit their application via their Grad Rebel Gateway portal. The Graduate College will accept one nominee from each College. Students see your college for their application deadline. Only complete applications will be considered. All masters and doctoral students are eligible for consideration, subject to the guidelines provided. The 1st place winner will be given a $2,500 award, the 2nd place winner will be given a $2,000 award, and the 3rd place winner will get a $1,500 award.
51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Graduate College Outstanding Thesis & Dissertation Awards
Eligible projects for this year's Outstanding Thesis and Outstanding Dissertation awards are those successfully defended between August 1, 2022, and August 1, 2023. Nominations are due to the Graduate College by December 1st, 2024. Colleges can submit their nomination via the .
Sam Lieberman Regents’ Award for Student Scholarship – Graduate Student
Each year, the NSHE Regents recognize one outstanding graduate scholar at each NSHE institution with the Sam Lieberman Regents’ Award for Student Scholarship. Awards are based on distinguished academic accomplishments (including research and other scholarly activities), leadership ability, service contributions while a registered graduate student, and the nominee’s potential for continued success.
Recipients must be nominated for this award and meet the eligibility requirements below. The award carries a $5,000 stipend. Recipients will be notified each spring and recognized at the annual 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Academic Achievement Awards ceremony.
Nominees must meet the following criteria to be eligible.
- Nominees must be currently enrolled in no fewer than 6 graduate credits in the semester in which they are nominated.
- Graduate student nominees must have been accepted to graduate standing by the time the award is granted.
- Leadership and service accomplishments must have occurred while the nominee is a registered NSHE student.
The application package must include the following:
- NSHE nomination form
- Table of contents
- Nomination letter
- Personal statement
- Letters of support (optional)
- Curriculum vitae or resume
- Biography

Nominators must be an NSHE academic or administrative faculty member. Graduate students may not self-nominate. Nominators should note the eligibility criteria for students provided above.

The nominator must submit these materials by email to GradAssociateDean@unlv.edu with the subject heading: Sam Lieberman Regents’ Award 2025 no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2024.
Student nominees must prepare and submit the following materials:
- Personal statement
- Curriculum vitae or resume
- One-half page biography. Please ask your faculty nominator for an 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ letterhead so that you can insert your biography.
- Additional letters of support (optional)
Requirements for these materials can be found in the Regents’ Awards Guidance document. No other supporting materials will be considered.

Western Association of Graduate Schools (WAGS) & ProQuest Awards
The Western Association of Graduate Schools (WAGS) partners with ProQuest to accept nominations in four award categories. They include:
- Innovation in Technology Award
- Distinguished Master’s Thesis Award in STEM Disciplines
- Distinguished Master’s Thesis Award in Humanities, Social Sciences, Education and Business Disciplines
- Distinguished Master’s Thesis and/or Final Master’s Capstone Project Award in the Creative, Visual and Performing Arts
Each academic college/school may nominate no more than one outstanding project/thesis/dissertation for each of the aforementioned applicable categories. Nominations are due Aug. 1, 2024.
