Grant: Advising Colleagues from Across Campus
The 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Academic Advising community was recently awarded a two-time grant from the Stupski Foundation to focus on wellness initiatives for academic advising professionals within NACADA Region 9 institutions. Two teams submitted a proposal that addresses the needs for wellness, sustainability, and retention in the academic advising profession. Through this opportunity, academic advising professionals will continue to take an active role to improve their mental health and wellness on a systemic level.
Total Award Amount: $30,000
Team 1: Huston Green (Sciences), Christina Perez (Health Sciences), Anna Toma (Urban Affairs), and Kia Vichaikul (Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education)
This team will continue to develop their successful wellness program for academic advisors. They will provide supplemental resources that will address a wider scope of wellness areas, such as nutrition and ergonomic stretching routines.
Team 2: John Starkey (Lee Business School), Beth Gersten (Lee Business School), Michael Terry (Liberal Arts), Tashauna Stewart (Lee Business), and Tricia McCrory (Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education)
This team will focus on the three pillars they created: agency, engagement and research. They will continue the successful micro-externship program and research activities. In addition, they will assemble advising avengers to identify and solve campus-wide opportunities.
