The commissioner for the Mountain West Conference has announced his resignation, effective at the end of the year.

Mountain West Conference Commissioner Craig Thompson announced today that he is stepping down effective Dec. 31, after nearly 24 years at the helm of the conference.

When I joined 51�ԹϺ��� as its president in August 2020, our campus – which would normally be brimming with the excitement of a new academic year – was a fairly quiet place. Nearly all of our 31,000 students were taking classes remotely, and my introduction to 51�ԹϺ��� and our students and faculty was largely limited to Zoom screens and recorded messages.

Monday marks the start of the fall semester at 51�ԹϺ���. Few things bring me more joy than the vibrancy of our campus during the start of a new term, as there’s a mix of excitement and anticipation about the opportunities that stand in front of us.

51�ԹϺ��� President Keith Whitfield is preparing for what he hopes will be the first “normal” school year since the outset of the pandemic in early 2020.

An ambulatory care clinic will be built at 51�ԹϺ���’s Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine in the Las Vegas Medical District.

The Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at 51�ԹϺ��� has been awarded $70 million to build a new ambulatory care clinic and pathology lab on the medical school's campus.
