Award-winning poet Rosanna Warren will give a reading at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ on Dec. 1 as part of the Southwest Gas Distinguished Artists Series.
The author of "Stained Glass" and "Each Leaf Shines Separate," Warren has won numerous poetry awards, including the Witter Bynner Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the Lila Wallace Readers' Digest Award, both in 1994.
The reading, which will be followed by a discussion session, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Frank and Estella Beam Hall, Room 242. It is free and open to the public.
Among Warren's other awards are the 1993 Lamont Poetry Prize and the 1992 Lavan Younger Poets Prize, both from the Academy of American Poets. In 1990, Warren served as poet in residence at the Robert Frost Farm in Franconia, N.H. She also has been the recipient of a Yaddo Fellowship.
Warren is an assistant professor of English and of modern foreign languages and literatures at Boston University.
The Southwest Gas Distinguished Artists Series is made possible by a grant from the Southwest Gas Foundation and is sponsored by the College of Fine and Performing Arts. The English department also is sponsoring Warren's presentation at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ.
