Instead of heading off to jail to serve a week's sentence for abusing a court lacky, Eisenstein sneaks off to the most celebrated party of the year at the villa of Count Orlofsky and presents himself as a French marquis. When his wife shows up disguised as a Hungarian countess, she deftly collects the evidence to prove his infidelity when all is revealed at the jailhouse the next morning.
