The 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Wind Orchestra presents the third annual "President's Concert" at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16, in Artemus Ham Concert Hall as a special tribute to the United States military veterans, 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ student veterans, Las Vegas first responders, and the nine Las Vegans who have been awarded the French Legion of Honor.
The orchestra, led by artistic director and conductor Thomas Leslie, will include guest conductors:
- Col. John Bourgeois, director emeritus of the U.S. Marine Band, "The President's Own"
- Lt. Colonel James Bankhead, former conductor of the U.S. Air Force Band, "America's Own"
- Zane Douglass, 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ visiting instructor of conducting. Guest vocalists include baritone soloist Tod Fitzpatrick, sopano soloist Lillian Roberts, mezzo-soprano soloist Erin Gonzalez, and mezzo soprano soloist Celeste Dixon.
Additionally, the Wind Orchestra will perform a world premiere composition, Promise of Plenty, by 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ professor Anthony LaBounty, composed especially for the orchestra.
As part of this special tribute to the service men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces, all proceeds from the concert will be donated to the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Rebel Vets fund.
