ORI New Policies and Resource

The Division of Research is pleased to announce the implementation of new policies at the Office of Research Integrity (ORI) at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ. These updates are designed to guide 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ researchers on HIPAA requirements and their application to research activities.

Human Subjects Research and HIPAA - This policy outlines guidelines for the permissible use and disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI) for research purposes under the HIPAA Privacy Rule at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ. It applies to all faculty, staff, and students involved in research activities, ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards to protect individuals' privacy rights while facilitating necessary access for research.

  • Discuss when a HIPAA authorization form is required

Limited Data Sets and Data Use Agreements for Research Involving HIPAA Data - This policy ensures data is used, shared, and protected according to legal and contractual standards. It defines the terms and conditions under which data can be accessed and utilized, aiming to safeguard sensitive information, ensure compliance with regulations, and protect the rights and privacy of data subjects.
