The School of Nursing has been the recipient of several scholarship funds. The criteria for each fund is determined by the donor and is available upon inquiry. The availability of funds is variable. Students seeking financial assistance (scholarship or loans) should complete an application form at the Student Financial Services Office as well as provide required information specific to the scholarship to the School of Nursing. Award recipients are chosen by faculty utilizing donor criteria.

AfterCollege/AACN Nursing Scholarship Fund

, the leading employment website for nursing/allied health care students and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) have partnered to offer this new scholarship program for students pursuing professional nursing education programs. This scholarship program supports students who are seeking a baccalaureate, master’s or doctoral degree in nursing.

AORN Foundation Scholarships and Grants

The offers financial support to students enrolled in nursing schools and perioperative nurses pursuing bachelors, masters, or doctoral degrees. With the critical nursing shortage and the cost of higher education, the AORN Foundation Board of Trustees knows it is of the utmost importance to fund scholarships for students pursuing careers in nursing and for nurses advancing their professional careers.

The Dan Mordecai Educational Scholarship Award

The Nevada Organization of Nurse Leaders (NONL) is offering three Nevada nursing scholarships. The scholarships are made possible through the Dan Mordecai Educational Scholarship Fund. ONS Foundation Awards, Grants, and Scholarships

The Oncology Nursing Society (ONS), the ONS Foundation, and the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) are dedicated to the professional development of oncology nurses around the world. Through the , these organizations seek to recognize those nurses devoted to the care of individuals with cancer and to the specialty of oncology nursing.

Western Undergraduate Exchange

The Western Undergraduate Exchange Program (WUE), coordinated by the Western Interchange Commission for Higher Education, is for students of 14 Western states who may enroll in programs at institutions in other WUE states at reduced tuition levels available only for WUE students.

Graduate Level

The Tony and Renee Marlon Charitable Foundation Nursing Fellowship

The fellowship enables qualified graduate nursing students to complete their studies in a timely manner. Candidates must be enrolled full time, pursuing an M.S. or Ph.D. in Nursing, and have a 3.5 or higher cumulative grade point average. The School of Nursing defines full-time study as a course load of nine credit hours per semester for those without a graduate assistantship, or six credit hours per semester for those with a graduate assistantship (see Graduate Student Handbook). Award amount is $20,000 for master’s-seeking students and $30,000 for doctorate-seeking students. Students may be awarded annually provided they maintain aforementioned criteria and remain in good standing. Priority is given to GA students for the School of Nursing.

Faculty Nurse Loan Program

This is a federal forgiveness loan program for individuals pursuing an advanced degree in nursing education. Tuition, fees and books are covered by this loan. A student may obtain this loan for up to five years as long as the student in enrolled. Within 12 months of graduation the student must find employment teaching in a school of nursing. At the end of each of the first three years, 20 percent of the loan is forgiven. At the end of the fourth year of employment teaching in a school of nursing another 25 percent of the loan is forgiven.
