The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) Student Organization Support Funding provides funding of $250 each semester for up to three research-related 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ registered student organizations (RSOs) who foster and support undergraduate research initiatives. 

Eligibility, Application Process, and Requirements

Current 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ RSOs whose mission is research-related and whose initiatives include facilitating undergraduate research at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ are eligible for consideration.

The RSO president (or designated officer) is required to submit the following as part of the application package:

  • RSO mission statement
  • RSO’s three major areas of research activity
  • RSOs two proposed research-related event
  • Statement of funding purpose with budget of justified research-related, subsidized expenses
  • Current membership list

The RSOs faculty advisor is required to submit a letter of support to our@unlv.edu.

Awardees are expected to meet the requirements listed below:

  • Represent OUR in two research-related events
  • Participate in a minimum of two OUR events
  • Assists in OUR’s triannual research symposia
  • Invite OUR to a minimum of two RSO-sponsored events, such as a campus-wide climate-related event
  • Present receipts for research expenses

Student Sustainability Council (SSC)

The 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Student Sustainability Council advances sustainable practices on campus through education, research, activities, activist efforts, workshops, and operations to make social, environmental, and economic sustainability integral to the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ culture.

Neuroscience Undergraduate Research Organization (NURO)

Neuroscience Undergraduate Research Organization (NURO) is an interdisciplinary organization that incorporates Biology, Psychology, Physiology, Sociology, and Medicine together toward the study of brain health.

OUR supports research-related activities and events with a research component. As an example, a past partnership was used to host a Power Dialogue Webinar: Climate Solutions for Nevada, a Solve Climate by 2030 event. 

OUR’s triannual research symposia would not be possible without our student volunteers. OUR Staff will contact RSOs with specific tasks and volunteer schedules.

OUR Staff will reach out to the representative of the funded organization to represent OUR in events as well as participate in two OUR events. Examples of the former include New Student Orientation tabling events, research panelist opportunities, and research showcases. Examples of the latter include OUR’s Summer Research Boot Camp, OUR’s Research Skills Academy, and OUR’s triannual Undergraduate Research Symposia.

Yes! OUR will work with RSOs to determine a symposium schedule that prioritizes their members’ research presentations.
