Physical Fitness

Army ROTC conducts mandatory physical fitness training Monday - Thursday from 0600 – 0700. Optional ruck marches are held Fridays prior to leadership labs.

Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT)

The army combat fitness test (ACFT) is now the army's only physical fitness test, replacing the army physical fitness test (APFT). All soldiers are challenged to pass the ACFT at the gold standard, which is an overall minimum total score of 60.

If you are an Active Duty or Active Guard Reserve Soldier, you will take the ACFT twice a year. As an Army Reserve or Army National Guard Soldier, you will take it once a year. While participating in the Army ROTC Program Cadets will take the ACFT once an academic semester.

As military operations become more complex, it's vital that every soldier is physically and mentally prepared to succeed. The ACFT will help you achieve peak physical fitness and mental endurance under pressure.

Designed with the latest exercise science and physical training insights, the ACFT empowers Soldiers to complete a variety of combat tasks. The test is comprised of six fitness components which improve everything from muscular strength and power to flexibility and coordination.

Classes

As an ROTC student you will attend both your MIL courses as well as 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ classes required for the completion of your degree.

ROTC classes are once or twice a week, every week depending on the course.

Leadership Lab are held on Fridays from 0830 – 1130.

Field Training Exercises

Contracted Cadets are required to participate in a field training exercise every semester unless excused by the Professor of Military Science (PMS).

Fall semester field training exercises are held locally within the Las Vegas valley and are held Friday – Sunday.

Spring semester field training exercises are typically held in Reno jointly with our host program UNR from Thursday – Sunday.
