Shaping Inquisitive Researchers, Citizens, and Professionals Who Change The World
Study Sociology at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ
Sociology studies the ways that social structures and interactions shape human life. It is an exciting and illuminating scientific field that provides deep understanding and appreciation for the rich variety of social relationships and social organization throughout the world.
Our department combines innovative teaching, research, and community service to address questions of social change and justice, diversity, and sustainability in urban environments. We emphasize public sociology and civic engagement while drawing upon Las Vegas to study the dynamics of 21st century urban communities and the social forces that integrate and fragment them. As a result, our graduates become sociologists who can lend their knowledge and expertise to a wide range of fields and occupations of their choosing.
