I am happy to announce Rebecca Scherr, MD, as the chair of the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Scherr has demonstrated excellent leadership qualities as the interim chair of the department, a role she has held since February 2024.
Dr. Scherr is a Las Vegas native and 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ alumni who went on to receive her medical degree from the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine before completing her residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition from Emory University and ultimately returning to Las Vegas. Featured in our 2024 annual magazine, I encourage you to about Dr. Scherr and the influence her colleague and fellow pediatrician, Beverly Neyland, MD, had on her decision to pursue a career in pediatric medicine.
