Another semester wraps up at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ and that means graduation for hundreds of students.

Next Tuesday and Wednesday, 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ will conclude the fall semester with commencement ceremonies at Thomas & Mack Center, and President Dr. Keith E. Whitfield announced that enhanced security measures will be in place following a recent mass shooting on campus that killed three professors and injured a fourth.

State regents recognized the chief and officers of University Police Services following their response to the mass shooting on the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ campus last week.

It’s been nearly a week since three professors were killed following a deadly shooting on the campus of the University of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Nevada’s Board of Regents on Friday voted unanimously to raise tuition and fees by 5% to help pay for 11% raises for professional employees at the state’s universities, colleges and research institutes.

The medicinal and recreational use of legal cannabis is still relatively new in Nevada, where lawful sales debuted in 2017, and the regulation of consumption lounges is being worked through. That’s part of the reason why 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ created its Cannabis Policy Institute, which is believed to be the first of its kind in Nevada and possibly in the United States.

As some college students protest over the war between Israel and Hamas terrorists in Gaza, officials at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ are toeing a fine line between protecting free speech and quelling concerns that some demonstrations have allowed antisemetic rhetoric.

University of Nevada, Las Vegas (51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ) is launching the state’s first Cannabis Policy Institute (CPI), led by industry expert Riana Durrett. The idea behind the new marijuana policy-focused institute is to promote and expand public policy research.
