She leaves behind a legacy as both 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ’s longest-serving and first female president, having steered the university during a time of surging growth in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

In 2014, due to a need for better health care in Las Vegas, the state Legislature approved the creation of a new school of medicine at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ, now called the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine. The school was founded with an intended focal mission of caring for the Las Vegas community.
