51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ’s fall semester kicks off Aug. 26, and a new crop of Rebels is ready to make it happen. The university expects to welcome more than 32,000 students – its largest-ever fall enrollment – when classes resume.
And that’s not all that’s new. As 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ students embark on another academic year, they’ll encounter everything from upgraded security enhancements aimed at ramping up campus safety to new program offerings geared toward expanding their access to successful careers beyond college.

Enrollment Statistics
- This fall, more than 6,500 first-year and transfer students have enrolled.
- 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ hit a new historical record for incoming graduate students, buoyed by a 30% increase in new doctoral students.
- The majority (83%) of first-year students come from Nevada, with California and Hawaii the top two for out-of-state students. The incoming class also hails from 31 foreign countries.
- Nearly 200 newly admitted student veterans and military family members will join 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ this fall, becoming part of a community of more than 1,850.
- 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ’s expected record fall enrollment comes on the heels of a Spring 2024 class which also reached an all-time high in January.
Security Enhancements
- 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ reopened Beam Hall for classes this fall semester with new security enhancements, including surveillance cameras, elevator and stairwell access controls, and on-site security. About 150 classes will be held this fall in the building – roughly half of what’s typically offered.
- More than $2.5 million has been invested in Rebel Recovery efforts to date, with another $1 million in exterior lighting upgrades approved and in progress.
New Course and Program Offerings
- 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ is one of a select few U.S. universities to offer a robust slate of classes exploring mariachi, a cultural Mexican folk music.
- 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ will offer new graduate degrees in athletic training and counselor education and supervision, as well as a new bachelor’s in creative practice.
Campus Living
- Ahead of Rebel Ready Week orientation activities, more than 1,750 students moved into 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ’s residence halls for the Fall 2024 semester. And hundreds more have moved into the U District, marking the university’s largest resident student population since before the pandemic.
Milestone Anniversary
- The 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ School of Public Health marks its 20th anniversary in 2024, with a number of events and activities planned throughout the fall semester. The school was established in 2004 to improve the health and well-being of people in Southern Nevada and worldwide.
