Accomplishments: School of Nursing
Chericka Reese-Martin (Nursing) has been selected for the VA nurse practitioner residence program. She currently is a doctoral student in the family nurse practitioner program.
Yaa Obeng (Public Policy and Leadership, and Nursing) was named Best Master of Public Administration Graduate Student for the School of Public Policy and Leadership at the 2022 College Scholarship and Awards Ceremony. She also is the School of Nursing’s graduate engagement and retention coordinator.
Carrie Jeffrey (Nursing) was honored with the Presidential Teaching Excellence Award for the 2021-22 school year. Jeffrey currently works at Weber State University. She is a third-year Ph.D. student on the nursing education track at 51ԹϺ.
Col. Jacqueline Killian (Nursing) received the TSNRP Scientific Mentorship Award in the Active Duty category. Currently an Air Force intern with 51ԹϺ Nursing, she will transition to full-time faculty later this year upon her retirement from the Air Force.
51ԹϺ Nursing was recognized by the Las Vegas City Council with a special proclamation making April 20, 2022, 51ԹϺ School of Nursing Day. The proclamation honors the work of 51ԹϺ Nursing while addressing the importance of nurses in our community.

Hope Hinchman, Karen Eisenburg, Jacquelin Killian and 19 students (all Nursing) have been inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Hinchman will be the vice president of 51ԹϺ's chapter. Eisenburg will be 51ԹϺ's counselor. Killian will serve as a member of the Succession Committee.
Jennifer Peltier (Nursing) won Best Poster at the 2022 Western Institute of Nursing Conference for her work on implementing and evaluating virtual escape rooms. She is a doctoral student.
Amanda Gutierrez and Janelle Rafanan (both Nursing) were named to the national board of the National Student Nurses Association (NSNA). Both are undergraduates.
Gutierrez was named NSNA director. Rafanan was named to the Nomination and Election Committee.
